Early Years Funding Formula for 2024/25 Consultation

Overview

The DfE has consulted local authorities and early years providers on its proposals for funding local authorities for the new early years free entitlements for 2 year olds and Under 2s and in July 2023 published illustrative local authority level hourly funding rates. 

Why your views matter

This consultation aims to seek the views of all Cumberland schools, academies and private, voluntary and independent (PVIs) providers on the funding formulae that Cumberland Council proposes to use to allocate 2 year old and Under 2s funding to early years providers in 2024/25.  It also seeks views on the proposed methodology for allocating the mandatory deprivation supplement for 3-4 year olds, 2 year olds and Under 2s. 

All schools, academies and PVIs are encouraged to respond to this consultation. The deadline for responding to the consultation is Wednesday 30 November 2023.

What happens next

The outcome of the consultation will be reported to the Schools Forum at its next meeting on Wednesday 16 January 2024 who will, after taking into consideration the consultation results, make a recommendation to Cabinet members who will decide on the final shape of the early years funding formulae in February 2024.
