Introduction
Why are we consulting?
The School Admissions Code 2021 requires admission authorities to consult where changes are proposed to admission arrangements which will apply in the following academic year. As the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools within the local authority area of Cumberland, the local authority is seeking views on the proposed admission arrangements for 2026-27.

What happens next:
The consultation closes on 17th November 2024. Any responses that have been received will be reviewed. Responses will be used to inform the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2026-27. The final arrangements will be presented, seeking approval, to the Council Cabinet in January 2025.
Subject to agreement, the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2026-27 will be published on the Council website no later than 15 March 2025.
